Chapter 96
“Yo mystery man?” Keri asked through the darkness.  “You there?”  For awhile, there was no answer.

“Yes,” he said solemnly.

“Am I going to be OK when I wake up?”

“Yes.”

“Good.  Then we can go out later.”

“If you want.”

Keri woke up shortly after that.  She was at home, in her bed.  She was covered with several blankets and was wearing a wet diaper.  What happened, she wondered.  Keri got out of bed and looked at her clock.  5:30.  What the hell?

She walked downstairs, her diaper crinkling.  “Mom?”

“Keri?  Are you any better?”

“I guess so.  What happened?”

“Detective McKenzie found you and Casey outside the Millennium Palace and took you to the station.  You passed out.  Casey told me you were under a lot of stress.  We got very worried and took you home.”

“But I’m OK?”

“You tell me.”

“I guess I am.”

“Good.”

“Can I go and see the fireworks?”

“Keri, you should stay here and rest.”

“Awe, OK.”

“Now come here so I can check your diaper.”  Keri blushed.  Her mom spoke to her as if she were 2 instead of 17.  She walked over to her mom, and her mom pulled back her diaper.  “My, your wet.”  Before she could say anything, her mom carried her back upstairs to her room.  Keri noticed that her changing table had been taken out of the closet.  She was set down on it and her wet diaper was taken off.  Keri’s mom powdered her and put 3 thick cloth diapers lined with a disposable on her.  Keri picked out a pair of plastic pants to go over them, and was told to get back into bed.

Mrs. Roberts returned a little later with a bottle.  Keri sat up to drink it.  It was real baby formula!  “You need your vitamins somehow and I know your not feeling well,” she explained.

“Does this mean I get to be a baby again?”

“Until your feeling better at least.  Then we’ll talk.  I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have judged you on that.”

“That’s OK.  It is kinda weird.”  Keri sucked the bottle gleefully.

“Your father and I are going to see the fireworks.  I know you wanted to go to, but you really need to rest.  But don’t worry, Casey is going to stay here with you.”

“Yay,” said Keri.  Her mom kissed her forehead and left.

Casey arrived a few minutes later.  “Hi Casey,” Keri said from her bed.

“Hey.  Don’t you have a date with the invisible man?”

“I forgot all about that,” Keri said.  “Shit.  My mom won’t let me go.”

“Don’t worry about it,” said Casey.  “he and I had a little talk.”

“Really?  What did he tell you?”

“Theo Rex is interested in buying Maya’s family’s farm.  Says he needs a break from Florida.”

“That’s great!”

“I know!”

“Could you help me get dressed?  I’ve got to get out of here in a little bit.”

“Sure,” said Casey.  He picked Keri up and placed her on the changing table.  “You might want to leave those diapers on.”

“You think he’d mind?”

Casey snickered.  “I’d doubt it.”

“Well you have to take them off of me anyway,” she said.  “I’m taking a shower.”
“This is the last time I get to see a naked female until Maya gets back,” he said.  “So pardon me if I happen to stare.”

“I don’t care,” said Keri.  Casey unpinned her diapers and she hopped in the shower.  When she came out, Casey re-diapered her.  She put on a pair of baggy shorts and a shirt, combed her hair, put on some make up and was set to go.  “Thanks a lot,” said Keri.
“Don’t mention it,” said Casey.

She smiled, put her shoes on, grabbed her purse and left.  She found the stranger on the high school football filed staring into the visitor’s field goal.

“Hey,” said Keri.  “What are you doing over there?”

“Trying to get a good view of the fireworks.  Everyone is watching them from the park, and the park’s that way.”

“Why aren’t we in the park then?”

“I don’t like the crowds.”

“I see.”  She walked over to him.  He was wearing his trademark black jacket.  “You ever going to tell me your name?”

“It’s Z__.”

“Oh cool.  Just like Hanson.”

“Not funny.”

“I’m starting to wonder if you think anything is.  You have like no sense of humor.”

“That’s not true.  I have a habit of laughing at other’s expense.”

“Oh, that’s so much better.”

“I tried to tell you not to come here, but.....”

“No, hold on,” she said.  She clutched his hand and they sat down on the football field, and watched for the first sign of fireworks.  After 15 minutes, Keri was getting bored.  He had hardly said 2 words and kept his hands entirely to himself.  That made him a gentlemen, but it was no fun on a date.  Did he even know this was a date?”

“Do you not like me or something?” she asked.

“If I didn’t like you, I wouldn’t be here.”

“Well, I kinda got that idea when you weren’t talking to me.”

“I’m sorry.  I happen to be a quiet person.”

“Yeah, I noticed.  You know this is a date, right?”

“I said I was quiet, not stupid.”

“OK.  I don’t know if New Jersey is Amish country or something, but your allowed to talk to me, your allowed to sit close to me, and your even allowed to touch me.  I won’t bite.”

“You know this is the first date I’ve ever been on.”

“An your how old?”

“15.”

“Are you gay or something?”

“Hell no, I’m not gay!  Not that there’s anything wrong with that.”

“OK, sorry.  I just find that like kinda weird.”

“It is weird.  And I don’t give a fuck.  I’d rather go out with one really great person then waste my time asking out dumb sluts that will probably turn me down half the time.”

“Is that a compliment?”

“I guess so.”

She leaned over and kissed him.  His cheek was surprisingly cold.  And he didn’t kiss back.  “Something wrong?”

“This isn’t going to work.”

“What?”

“It ain’t your fault.  Look, you wouldn’t want a relationship with me anyway  I’m bad at it.”

“I don’t believe this!”

“Don’t get your diapers in a knot.  I’ll come out of retirement and write you up a really nice boyfriend.”

“Why can’t I just have you?”

“Because....well, you wouldn’t want me.  Bye Keri.”

“What the hell are you so scared of?” Keri yelled.  He had vanished.  “Damn it!” she pouted, and peed her diaper as the last of the fireworks went off overhead.  She’d better get home before her parents catch her and bring a bad end to an even worse day.

Chapter 97
Dressed in a short skirt and a tight fitting top, Keri set out from her house.  Her parents didn’t want her going anywhere until she was feeling better.  She was feeling fine, she reasoned.  But look what had happened the last time she went for a walk?  Then again, why should she have to be grounded when she didn’t do anything wrong.  So she snuck out.

It was a bright and sunny day and very nice weather.  At least that asshole managed to get something right, Keri thought.  She was still upset about the night before.  Diaper under her skirt crinkling, Keri walked downtown.  Maybe she’d check out the new and improved DeCaspa family grocery.

“Hey!” someone shouted.  Keri looked across the street and saw two kids she didn’t recognize.  She waved and walked on.

“Yo, come back here,” said the kid.  Keri sighed and crossed the street.

“Do I know you?” she asked.  She gasped in shock when one of the kids drew a knife.

“Your that bitch that killed Red.”

“What?  No, I didn’t kill him.”

“Bullshit,” said the other one.  “You was with him, he probably tried sumthin with you that you didn’t like, and now he’s dead.”

“Believe me, I couldn’t have killed him if I wanted to.”

“Then who did?”

How in the hell was Keri supposed to explain this?  “Look, you have the wrong person.  So just leave me alone.”

“You hear that?” asked the unarmed kid.  “She said she didn’t do nothin.  I say we slice up the dumb cunt.”  The kid with the knife grabbed her arm.  Keri yelled and struggled to get away, but to no avail.  She succeed in stepping on the kids toes hard enough for him to loosen his grip, but she still found herself trapped.

“You gonna pay for that,” he said.

“I’ll ask you one more time,” said his friend.  “Who killed Red?”

“I did,” called a voice from behind.  They turned around to see Z__ standing a few feet away from him.

“Where did he come from?”

“Where did I come from?” asked Z__.  “Your mother’s bed.  We were fooling around for awhile.”

“Your fuckin dead!’

“No, you are unless you let her go.  She didn’t do anything, and if you hurt her, I’ll gouge your eyes out of your sockets and shove them up your ass.”

The kid with the knife advanced towards him while the other one made sure Keri didn’t get away.  Z__ look surprisingly undaunted as the blade of the knife drew nearer to him.  When the kid was close enough to stab, Z__ stepped to the right and threw a hook that smashed the kid’s face.  He gritted his teeth as his wrist snapped back in pain and kicked the kid savagely in the balls.  He fell to the ground screaming.

Z__ picked up the knife and wandered toward the other kid.  “You want some of this?” he asked, flashing the knife blade.  “Red didn’t so I had to shoot him instead.”

The kid charged at Z__, and Z__ countered by slamming him into a wall.  The kid slammed his knee into Z__’s stomach and snatched the knife.  He sliced Z__’s cheek before Z__ could back away and was getting ready to do significantly more damage when Z__’s hand gripped his throat.

Z__ lifted him up and pinned him against the wall, his arm aching.  The kid tried to stab him, but he knocked his arm away with his elbow.  The knife cluttered to the floor.  “You ready to die, cocksucker?” he asked.  “Red’s gone, your friend over there is hurting, and if you don’t back down I’ll kill you.  Do you really think it’s worth it?”

The kid was choking and striving for air.  He flailed his arms feebly in the air and could not break the grip around his throat.  As the world grew blurry and he peed his pants, Z__ let him go and he fell to the floor.  His friend pulled him up and they ran away.

Keri, who had been hiding in an alley and watching the whole thing now slowly emerged.  She was startled and scared.

“Are you OK?” Z__ asked, blood slowly streaming out of his cut.

“Y...yeah,” said Keri.  “Y-your bleeding.”

He felt his cheek.  “I know,” he said.

“What the fuck just happened?” Keri asked.

“Turns out no matter how far away from here I stay, I wound up getting drawn back in.  I’ve got a power that I don’t even want, and it’s working against me.  Those two punks were my fault....something was feeding on my negativity and that’s how they got here.  I’m sorry.”

“You must have been really mad at me,” Keri said.

“Not at all.  I’m just bitter most of the time.  That’s why I had to leave last night.  I didn’t want something like this happening.  If something went wrong, I could have killed you.”

“I thought you didn’t like me.”

“If I didn’t....”

“I know, you wouldn’t be here.  But why are you so scared of me?”

“I’m not scared.”

“Come here then.”

He nervously approached her, and she hugged him.  He kept his hands at his sides.  “See?” she asked.  “Your scared.”

“I’m not.....well, I guess I am scared.  I don’t want anything bad happening to you again.”

“Still, it’s like not good to keep feelings and shit all bottled up.  It damages your karma.”

“Easy for you to say, your not living with a demon in your head 24/7 and just waiting to be let out.”

“Wow, you’ve got problems.”

“I know,” he said.  “Which is why you probably better stay the fuck away from me.”

“Or.....I could help you.”

“I think I’m beyond help.”

“How are you going to know that unless you try?  It’s like your wasting half your life worrying.”

“Fine,” he said.  “I’ll try whatever the hell it is you had in mind, though I can probably already guess.  If it works, good.  If not, I’m going home and you’d better forget you’d ever met me.”

“Arighty then,” said Keri.  She patted his head.

“Watch the hair,” he said.  She then ruffled his hair even further. He paused, frowned, then took Keri’s hair and pushed it down over her eyes.  She smiled, pushed it back and started walking towards a bus stop.

“Where are we going?” he asked.

“The mall, duh,” she answered.  “You should know me better then that.”

“I figured as much.”

They got on a bus and sat down.  Keri tried to sit on his lap, but he moved slightly away.  Lastly, he resigned himself and let her sit.  Very nervously, he placed his hand on her thigh.  She could tell he was uneasy, so she started a conversation.  Surprisingly, he was talkative the entire bus ride.

They got off the bus and walked into the mall.  Upon seeing the masses of people, he gripped her hand tightly.  Is he like socially anorexic or something, Keri wondered.  Well, we’ll find out soon enough.  They walked right to Kidmania.

Much to Keri’s surprise, it was closed.  There was a sign on the door from Chad saying that he went on vacation.

“This is weird,” said Keri.  “You do this?”

“I figured he needed some time off.”

“Or you figured we’d be coming here.”

“Maybe,” he said.  Keri fished the key Chad had given her out of her purse and they walked inside.

Chapter 98
“I’ve gotta ask you something,” said Keri.  “What kind of story were you trying to write anyway?”

“I don’t even remember.”

“Was it good?”

“What?”

“I mean, like if you were to go back and read it.......is it good?”

“Well, it’s not over yet.”

“But so far?”

“Yeah, it’s been great.”

“Then I’d better give it a happy ending.”

They started to kiss each other and were enjoying each other’s company when Z__ abruptly pulled away.  “Goddamn it, when will it end?!”

“What?” asked Keri.

“I was doing fine,” he said frantically.  “Then I looked at you and I saw myself tearing your heart out.”

“Why would you want to do that?”

“I don’t.  I don’t know why I thought of it.  Every time I get close to happiness, something gets in my way.  And 9 out of 10 times, that something is me.”

“Awe, that sucks.”

“Damn straight.  But bitchin about it won’t solve anything.  So, what do you want to do?”

“Um.......I don’t know.  What do you want to do?”

“Go buy some music.  It might cheer me up.”

“OK, cool.”

They walked to the music store.  Keri nearly fainted when she saw a promo poster with her diapered behind right in the middle of it.

“Oh my God!” she squealed.  “This is so cool.”

“You know I write songs for Aerosol.”

“No way.”

“Go ask Kip Calloway where he gets his lyrics from.  And if you really want to see him freak out, ask him about what happened at the raceway on June 23rd.”

“Why aren’t you in the credits?”

“Because I don’t deserve to be.  I can write songs, big deal.  Does that make me a superstar?  Hell no.  It ain’t worth anything anywhere....except for here.  So I figured it’d be better to share the gift with somebody who needed it more then I, somebody who has a legitimate shot at becoming a superstar.  Besides, I can’t even sing a note.”

Keri was flipping through CD’s when she spotted something that caused her to giggle.  “Check out the name of this song,” she said.

“Michelle Pfiefer’s Diaper by SNFU,” he said.  “So.”

“Don’t you think that’s kinda weird?”

“Maybe to you.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

“I mean people who wear diapers tend to have an extrasensory perception for diaper related things in every day life.  Other people wouldn’t notice, and if they did, they wouldn’t think anything of it.”

“How the hell would you know?”

“I don’t know...it was an assumption.”

“Assuming makes an ass out of you and me.”

“Where are we?  The first grade.”  He then found something that caught his attention and grabbed it.

“What is it?”

“The Family Values CD, Volumes I and II.  I can’t even get volume II back home.”

“So then buy it.”

“I was planning on it.”

They left the music store.  “Think of something to do yet?” Z__ asked.

“Yeah,” Keri said a little weakly.  “Let’s go back to Kidmania; I have to change.”  She was starting to like it better when he didn’t talk; he had a slightly grating personality.

They walked back into Kidmania, and Keri walked into a stall while Z__ put the CD in Chad’s stereo.  Keri lifted up her skirt and looked down at her sagging diaper.  The wetness indicator had completely changed color, and it was almost falling off her hips.  And she hadn’t even noticed it until a few minutes ago.  Maybe I’m incontinent again, she thought.  Yay, more diapers.

Keri peeled back the tapes and let the wet diaper fall to the floor.  She then took out some powder from her purse and dusted her diaper area.  Keri slid another disposable under her bottom and taped it up.  She had earned herself a BA in diapering, though she still preferred to be changed by someone else.  Now was not the time though.

Z__ looked content enough listening to music when Keri reemerged.  “I’ve got a question for you,” he said.

“Yeah?”

“How does it feel to treat me like you do?”

Before Keri could ask what the hell that meant, Orgy’s Blue Monday came over the stereo and she understood. “You want to dance?” she asked.

“Hell no,” he said defensively.  “I hate dancing.”

“Why?”

“Because I’m no good at it and it looks retarded.”

“So you wouldn’t dance with me.....”

“Not if you were Brittany Spears.”

“Well thanks a lot.”

“It’s not like I’m the first guy who refused to dance with you.”

“As a matter of fact you are.”

“Well big fuckin deal.  You know how many girls have ever asked to dance with me besides you?”

“How many?”

“Zero.”

“Well too bad.”

There was an awkward moment of silence.

“What will it take for you to be a normal person?” Keri asked.

“I’ll never be normal.”

“OK, not normal....but, like......fun?”

“Are you implying that I’m boring?”

“Just....forget it.”

She was about to give up and go home, maybe take a nap when Z__ said something a little startling.  “Fortunate are the young for they know not the evil of the world.”

“What?  Is that like a quote or something?”

“Yeah.  You know what it means?”

“Yeah.  I can relate to it,” Keri said.  “Who said it?”

“Me.”

“You know,” she said.  “Me and Casey were talking earlier today.  We had this theory that since we both somehow wound up in diapers that you’ve got to be a diaper  lover as well.”

“I’d hate to disappoint you,” he said.  “but I haven’t worn a diaper since I was maybe 3.”

Damn it, Keri thought.  So much for that idea.

“That doesn’t mean I haven’t thought about it.”

“You have?”

“Frequently.  It’s not so weird.  I think a lot of people think about what it would be like to be a baby again at some point during their lives.  Few people every pursue it then.”

“So why didn’t you pursue it.”

“Are you kidding me?” he asked.  “You probably don’t know this because things worked out very conveniently for you, but there are a whole lot of complications in trying to get into diapers.  First of all, I can’t tell anybody about it, they’d laugh their ass of and rightfully so.  Second, I can’t just go into a store and buy diapers; I’d be to nervous.  Third, even if I did buy them, there’s the issue of hiding them and.....”

“OK, enough already,” Keri said.  “I get the idea.  But if you could wear a diaper right here and right now, without anybody ever knowing about it, would you?”

“I dunno.  It’s like I said, I won’t let myself enjoy anything.”

“Oh, I think I can get you to enjoy this.”

“Your welcome to try.”

She led him to the stall that Chad designated as the punishment stall.  It had a changing table with built in restraints for people who were averse to the concept of being diapered but required it anyway.  “Well, lie down,” Keri said.

“I don’t know about this.....”

“Oh, shutup.  You put me through worse.”

He resigned himself and climbed on the table.  Keri fastened the wrist and ankle restraints on him.  “those aren’t to tight, are they?”
“No.”

“Good.  I’ll be back in a sec.”

Keri fetched some diapers and diapering supplies and returned to the stall.  She could tell he was nervous and embarrassed and she hadn’t even done anything yet.  Some people just have very guilty consciences, she thought.

“Suck on this,” she said, easing a pacifier into his mouth.  He nodded, and tried to relax.  Keri unzipped his jeans and pulled them down.  He squirmed as she reached for his underwear, and she gently touched his face.  He held still while she pulled them down.  She then powdered him and slid a very big very thick disposable baby diaper under him and taped it shut.

“This feels weird,” he mumbled around his pacifier.

“It’s about to feel weirder,” she said.  She undid the ankle restraints, took out the pacifier and spread his legs  bit further apart.  This allowed her to pin on several thick cottony cloth diapers.  Lastly she slid on a pair of locking plastic pants and clicked them shut.

“What the fuck!”

“Just in case you change your mind.”

“Gimme the key,” he said.

She took it and slipped it down her shirt so that it rested between her breasts.  “Come and get it.”

He thrashed against the restraints.  “I’ll kill you!” he yelled.

“Calm down,” Keri said, a little startled.  “I was just kidding.  I swear I’ll take them off once you’ve used them.”  He nodded.  Keri then sat down on top of him.  “Now I’m going to go change into something more comfortable.  You just relax and try to get used to your diapers.”

She walked out of the stall and into another one.  Here, she slipped off her skirt and took off her shirt.  She was about to go and pick out some baby clothes when the door fell shut behind her.  She tried to open it, but it was locked.  “Oh shit!” she said.  “Hey Z__, I’m kinda stuck here.”

“And I’m kinda tied down here.”

“What the fuck are we supposed to do now?” she asked.  Now it was her turn to become nervous.

“Calm down,” he said.  “I’ll be there in a second.”

“Just how are you going to do that?” Keri asked.  She got no answer, but listened just the same.  Keri could hear the snapping of the restraints.  She heard his footsteps as he walked towards the stall.  “Stand back,” he said.  She back into the corner and watched as he attempted to knock the door down.  “Damn it!”

“Any other ideas?”

“Yeah, hold on.”  She saw the top of his hands latch onto the top of the door as he climbed over it.  “Let’s try to open it from the inside.”  He kicked it a couple of times and it eventually swung open.  He and Keri then ran out.  “My locker jams all the time.  Same principle.”

“Wow, your pretty strong,” she said.

“Not really,” he said.  “In fact, your probably stronger then me.”

“Yeah, but I couldn’t do that.”

“You could if you had the determination.”

“Uh, you know we’re standing half naked in the middle of an empty store,” she said.  “Somebody could just look in the windows.....”

He bolted for another stall, one with a door not prone to sticking, and she followed him in.

“You want to change me?” Keri asked.

“Do you need to be changed?” he asked.

“I don’t know, probably.  I can’t even tell anymore.”

“Congratulations, you are now officially 100% incontinent.”

“Cool.  Now my parents have to let me wear diapers.”

“It won’t be so cool having to wear diapers all your life....nevermind, I shouldn’t get you worried about that.”  He nervously placed his hand on her ass.

“Do I feel wet?” she asked.

“Hard to tell,” he said.  “Could just be sweat.”

“Well then go look.”

He pulled back the waistband of her diaper.  “Yeah, your wet.”

“OK,” she said.  She lay down on the changing table and assumed the position.  He took off her wet diaper.

“You have anymore diapers?” he asked.

“Look around,” he said.  “Almost the whole store is diapers.  Duh!”
“OK.  In that case, any preferences?”

“Whatever.  I don’t care just as long as it’s thick and comfy and makes me look like a baby.”

“Aright.  Chill for a second, I’ll be right back.”

Keri smiled.  This was good so far.  She then noticed he had managed to swipe her key without her noticing.  Sneaky little bastard, ain’t he?

Z__ returned with an armful of supplies.  He set them down and made sure Keri was wiped, powdered and covered with baby lotion before proceeding.  He then took a single thin cloth diaper, lined it in a disposable, and put that on Keri.

“Hey, I said thick, dumbass,” she told him.

“I’m not done yet,” he retorted.  He took several thicker cloth diapers and lay them under Keri.  He velcroed them shut.  “That better?” he asked.

“Much,” she answered.

“Let me test anyway,” he said.  “Turn over.”

“What are you going to do?”

“Just turn over.”

She rolled onto her stomach and he punched her in her ass.  “Did you feel that?” he asked.
“No,” she answered.

“Then how could you tell that I punched you?”

“I just did.  Look, if I get any more padded up I’ll start to feel like a sheep.”
She rolled onto her back and he slipped on a printed vinyl diaper cover and a pair of lace rhumba panties.  “Almost done,” he said.  He slipped on a pair of tights.

“A little warm for tights,” she said.

“So if you get hot, and uncomfortable, cry and I’ll change you.”
She smiled as he slipped a short baby dress over her head.  He fastened her hair into a pigtail and slipped some lace socks and Mary Jane shoes onto her feet.  Keri looked at herself in the mirror.  She looked all of about 2 ½.

“Good job,” she said.

“I’m going to go get something to put on over my diapers,” he said.

“OK,” said Keri, pleased with the way things were turning out.  She was back in diapers again, and this time nothing stood in her way.  She wandered out of the stall and nearly had a heart attack when she ran into Captain Donner.

“Keri Roberts,” he said.  “What’cha up to?”

“Oh, nothin much.”

“You know this place is closed today.  What are you doing here?”

“I...” Keri stammered.  She could feel her diapers growing warm with her pee.
“You know that you ain’t supposed to be here.  I realize you work here, but this is still off-limits.”  She was getting ready to cry.  “Are you going to give me an answer or not?”

“I’ll answer that,” said Z__.  He reappeared wearing a pair of black Adidas pants and looking not a bit out of the ordinary.  It was as if he were a high-priced defense lawyer presenting evidence that would turn the course of a trial.

“Who are you?” asked Donner.

“Z__ G-------n.  I’m an author and in a little bit, I’m going to be opening up the stores and giving autographs.  Chad didn’t notify you?”

“No, he did not.  And I never heard of you, neither.  Something is going on here.”
He fished a small paperback novel out of his pocket and tossed it to Donner.  “All Come Down: Red and LA,” he read.  He flipped to the outer cover and spotted the author’s picture.  “Seems to match up,” he said.  “But I think I’ll stay on hand just in case.  You never know.”

“Thanks a lot, Captain,” said Z__.  “Just give me a minute to confer with my partner.”

He and Keri disappeared behind an aisle of clothes.  “What the hell?” she asked.

“Hey, don’t look at me,” said Z__.  “I wasn’t expecting it either.”

“But the book?” she asked.  “how did you do that?”

“I told you I was a writer.  That was the story I’ve been working on, and the reason I came here in the first place.”

“I thought you said it wasn’t over?”

“Apparently, it just ended.”

“How?”

“I don’t know,” he said.  “But it’s over and I can finally exist here in relative peace without risking blowing something up by mistake.”

“So what am I supposed to do?” Keri pouted.

“Help me sign autographs.  Your in the book, you know?”

“I am?  Cool.”

“Yup.  Your an interviewee.  Between this and the CD cover, your becoming quite a celebrity.”

“If you say so, Mr. Author.”

They spent the next hour or two answering questions and signing autographs.  Keri gained some perspective on all the weird events that had happened in her life.  She was finally able to share some of her thoughts without sounding completely nuts.  Most people recognized her face from the CD cover, and nobody questioned her about her babyish attire.  She was the center of attention again....and the attention was positive.

Once the day was over and the mall was nearly closing, Keri and Z__ split a pizza.

Keri sat on a hard plastic chair, her moist diapers pushed up against her butt.  She would probably have to poop soon, and it was a bit more then uncomfortable under these tights.  Despite being wet and itchy, she was quite happy.  And oddly enough, so was her friend.

“Let’s toast,” said Z__, raising his cup of Coke.

“OK.  What are we toasting to?”

“Take your pick.  We can toast to me wrapping up this book, or to you becoming a star.  But I actually think I might have something better.”

“What’s that?”

“The power of positive thought,” Z__ answered.  “This place ain’t feeding off my depression anymore.  In fact, it stopped feeding off of me period.  I’m just another regular person.  I’m free of it, and your free of any damage I might cause you.  And you know something?”

“Yeah?”

“I couldn’t have done this without you, powers or no powers.”

“Awe, thanks.”  They hugged each other and for once Z__ had no reason to back away.

“So are you like leaving now?”

“Not permanently.  I’ll be back tomorrow.  Then....who knows?”

“Bye Z__,” she said.

“Bye Keri,” he answered, then vanished.  Apparently, he still kept the disappearing act even if he trashed the rest of his magic set.

Still very much overwhelmed by the inexplicable turn of events, Keri caught the last bus home.  She began wondering how she was going to explain this, but then realized it sort of explained itself.  Just like that.  And the funny thing was, it seemed right to.  So this was what being a character in a book must feel like, she thought  Stuff just happens to you?  Oh well, it was all good.

It was late when Keri got home, and Casey was waiting for her.

“Oh my God,” she said.  “You are not going to believe what happened......”

“I’m published!”

“What?”

“There’s a book called All Come Down....”

“Yeah, I know.  That’s what I was trying to tell you about......”

“Not only am I an interviewee, but I’m also listed as one of the co-authors.”

“Oh cool,” Keri said.  “I was at the mall with Z__ singing autographs.”

“Have fun?”

“Totally.”

“For your information, I overheard your parents talking to my parents.  They are letting you back in diapers.”

“Yay!”

“This is great.”

“I know.  Z__’s a pretty nice guy.”

“Yeah.  I’d better get going.”

“Cya Casey.”

“Bye.”

Keri walked inside, had a brief chat with her parents, and went up to bed.  She tried to change, but found herself unable to get off her tights.  She was stuck in her wet diapers until morning!

Chapter 99
It was summer, but it felt more like spring.  The sun was out, but there wasn’t much of a glare.  It was warm, but there was a breeze.  Compared to days of heat and humidity, it actually was nice outside.  It felt right.

Keri Roberts and Casey Bombach sat on Keri’s front porch.  Keri had on a pair of short denim shorts and a tank top (with a diaper underneath of course).  She looked her age, but she felt younger.  Casey, who was several months younger and barely even looked his 16 years had an obvious bulge under his shorts.  Any passerby with an untrained eye could tell that both of them were wearing thick diapers, but wouldn’t bother to question why.

Keri had started somewhat of a fad.  Following the CD cover, she noticed more and more people wearing diapers and carrying around pacifiers.  Though hardly any of them took a serious interest in infantilism, everyone who did it, did it for fun, the same way they did other things.  However, unlike piercing their ears, it was painless.  Keri looked proudly upon the fad she started.  She usually only wore baby clothes two days out of the week, and if she happened to be outside one of those days she’d usually attract attention.  ‘Baby K’, as she was sometimes referred to as, was a familiar a face as the girl with the voice from the soda commercials or that kid Mikey from Life cereal boxes.  Sure, it was a gimmick and it wouldn’t last, but why not enjoy it.

“You know what?” Keri asked.

“What?” Casey replied.

“Nothing.”  She giggled.  “What’s the countdown?”

“Exactly 21 days until we are officially seniors,” Casey.

“Wow, that is like totally cool.”

“I finally have my shot at clinching a college scholarship.”

“And I’m going to be homecoming queen!”

“Hey Keri?”

“Yes?”

“I advise you to do us all a favor and when you get your diploma, don’t lift up your robe and show off your diapers.”

She reached over and smacked him jokingly.

“Hey, chill with the violence.”  Keri and Casey turned around.

“Hey Z__,” said Keri.

“She was trying to kill me,” Casey said jokingly.  “Think I should press charges?”

“Nah.  The most the court could do is send her to the time-out corner.”  They all laughed.

“Hey!” said Keri.  “Quit making fun of me!”

“Relax,” said Z__.  “If I wanted to hurt your feelings, you’d be in tears by now.”

“Real funny,” Keri snapped.  “Just like when you made me stay in those damn tights for like a day.”
“I thought you’d like that.”

“Not sleeping in them!  It got all messy and disgusting, and I got a rash.”

“A rash?” asked Z__.  “I don’t believe you, let me take a look just to be sure.”  Keri smacked him.

“So what brings you by?” asked Casey.

“I’ve come to say goodbye,” he said.

“Awe....” Keri began.

“Fear not, I shall return.”

“Don’t tell me your writing another story!” Casey complained.

“No.  Not here anyway.  I’ll pop back in the next time Aerosol is one tour.  In the meantime, I have a project going down in Florida, and I advise you to check it out in a few months.”

“What is it?”

“Can’t tell you that,” he said.  “All I know is that it is largely courtesy of Rex’s real estate outfit, and that it is going to kick ass.”

“Cool,” said Keri.

“Well, it’s been nice knowing you.”  Casey extended his hand, and Z__ gave him a high 5.

“Don’t I get a hug?” asked Keri.  He walked over to her and she hugged him.

“Peace,” he said.

“Bye Z__,” Keri called after him as he vanished.

“What time is it?” Keri asked.

“1:15 PM,” Casey answered.

“Shit.  I’ve got nothing to do today.”

“Well, I’d hate to further disadvantage you, but I’m taking Maya to the Millennium Palace.”

“What?!”

“Theodore Rex moved in and turned it into some sort of club, completely legal and sans alien monsters this time.”

“Oh cool, I’ll have to check it out sometime.”

“That isn’t until later, so I suppose we can continue to sit around idly for awhile longer.”

Keri took her hand and slipped it into her shorts.  “I’m wet,” she said.

“I’ve been wet,” said Casey.

“Let’s go inside and change.  Then I’ll get something to drink, and then I’ll think of something to do.  OK?”

“Whatever you say, Keri.”

She got up and stretched, and her diaper made a loud crinkling noise.  “I’ll race you inside,” she said.

“Keri, we’re about 2 feet from the door.”

“Oh yeah,” she said.  “Duh, stupid me.”

“Your not stupid.”

“I know,” she said, stepping inside.  “I just beat you!”

“Well you deserve a trophy then.”

“Shut up.”

“Maybe a bronze bottle would be befitting.”

“Just shutup before I kick you out of my house.”

“Technically, this isn’t your house.  It’s your parents house and they don’t have a quibble with me.”

“Oh, that’s it,” Keri said in mock-anger, running up to her room.  “I can’t be around you anymore.”

“We’ll see how long that lasts,” Casey said, following her up the stairs.  It was just like when they were kids.  In a way, nothing’s changed.

The End

Chapter 100
Z__ sat at his computer, surrounded by the mundane darkness of reality.  He was half-satisfied.  The half satisfaction came from the fact that he was finally, after 100 chapters and 400+ pages, done with this monster of a story.  Other then that, he wasn’t happy at all.  The story was pretty messed up.  I should have ended it a long time ago, he thought.  And him jumping in at the end?  No self-respecting author should ever do that.  Well, I guess it was necessary, wasn’t it?  Or am I just making excuses?

What he really had on his hands were 2 fairly decent separate stories that meshed into one.  The first story was a mixture of gritty crime drama and intriguing sci-fi entitled All Fall Down.  It was about determined cop Walter McKenzie, reformed crime boss Theodore Rex, and extraterrestrial terrorist Tarek “Red” Nazareth.  If he spent some time working on it and cleaned it up, that story was definitely sellable.

On the other hand, he had a whole separate story.  This was the story of a bitchy teenage girl who breaks the rules once two often, the nerd hired to help her learn her lesson, and the relationship between them as they grew.  This, out of lack of a better title, he called The Geek and the Cheerleader.  It appealed to him because he was in part an infantilist, and it appealed to most of the other infantilists out there, but that was about it.  So what should he do?  Cut the story out of the big picture and trash it?  Nah, he couldn’t do that.  But some degree of distinction between the two was definitely required.

For no apparent reason, Z__ found himself thinking of Keri.  She was beautiful; he had created her nearly perfect.  Keri was a composite of several girls he knew and secretly admired.  Initially, he got a thrill of watching the blond slut getting what she deserved, but it soon lost its fun.  Keri grew into a person.  A person, even though she was inside his mind, and it bothered him.  Doctors don’t get attached to patients, lawyers don’t get attached to clients, writers shouldn’t become attached to characters.  They live and die, and get you your paycheck.  That’s it.  Aw, who the hell was he kidding?  He was no real writer, just a kid.

Well, there isn’t much more I can do right now, Z__ thought.  Way to much on my mind.  He shut down the computer, shut off the stereo, went outside and got on his bike.  Maybe he’d meet somebody while he was riding.  Maybe he’d stop by the CVS and buy some Pampers size 6.  Maybe.... hey, who knows?

Thus brings an end to our story of a geek and a cheerleader.  Of a cop and a criminal.  Of an alien monster and a dying city.  And of the not so typical teenage writer.

The END (for real this time).
